Star-Crossed

This tale is of love that started on different Christmas day

Of two star crossed lovers who chose their own way !

Though it wasn’t planned, but I guess it was fate,

That each fell in love with the person whom they were supposed to hate !

Their families were at war, it was an enmity well-known

Yet a random evening changed this equation, seeds of love were sown !

And it blossomed day and night

Love made life different – wasn’t the usual fight !

Families were forgotten – only one name was always on the mind

The lovers thus chose to leave their old lives behind !

They got married secretly, a victory too sweet

Unknown to them though, was a different destiny that they will meet !

Families separated them, much drama followed,

Life for the lovers now seemed hollowed !

Not united in life ….one chose death

Knowing one was no more.. the other too gave up his breath !

Thus ended a tale of two star crossed lovers who united after life

Love was their folly, such was their strife !

Their names are unknown but a playwright gave each a new name

And through his writing their love lived.. rising to a new fame !

A tragedy renown to the world replicated in stories again and again,

For every tale told – brought with it the same sadness, the same pain !

For never was a story more woe..

Then this of Juliet and her Romeo !

Writer’s Block

With words he played – my writer friend,
Started incomplete tales with no end !
Closure he sought everytime,
Got distracted though in-between the rhyme !
And so moved on… his random strife…
To write down a story – a complete life !
Though characters new, he created always – couldn’t control their fate !
An end to his writer’s block, is what the characters still await…

A warrior once fought,
A battle too great
Valour he had… Recognition he sought,
An identity, for which all his life he did wait.

For he was a foundling, abandoned at birth,
Born a prince, son of the sun,
Skilled he was, yet struggled to showcase his worth,
In the testing ground of princes, he was the odd one

With no words to speak, and head hung low,
The warrior was about to retreat, losing to his fate,
But among mocking princes many, one stood out, cried "Hello !"
"O Noble Warrior.. don’t go please wait"

"He is skilled and meritous, fit to be a king,
And so I declare him one, his glories everyone will sing !"
In that fateful moment, a friendship was sealed,
A debt too heavy, under the burden of which, the warrior always reeled.

As history knows, the warrior soon faced a choice,
During the most illustrious battle of his life !
He knew now of his family, a time to rejoice,
But alas they were his opponents, this was his strife.

Yet to fight for his friend, was his duty at present,
He controlled his emotions, not let them flow in the moment,
The world knew him as a villian, yet he was just a victim of fate,
The choice he was presented with, came rather too late.

A righteous man he was, and stuck to his codes,
Genereous and kind for which he will win applauds,
His code was clear, he couldn’t betray his friend,
Even if that meant, an end to his family, to his existence, to his truth, his identity’s end.

And so a warrior once fought,
A battle too great…
Succeed he did not,
But then.. his righteousness stood the test of his fate.

Seated in the library, a writer tried to write,
Trying to define his existence, with a struggling attempt to set things right,

He tried to rectify the errors of his past,
Though he was short of time, in the few moments that will last!

He tried to write a tale too long,
Lost track in-between, wrote it all wrong…

He had new beginnings, he faced the same end,
A broken tale with nothing to mend

Fragments many, of a life gone by,
Turned to fiction, truth woven in a thread called lie

Of a wanderer at heart, that he always was,
Wandering on random ways, left with no purpose!

With memories left to be forgotten someday,
As he walked on, on his broken way.

Many twists and turns were still stored in fate,
It seemed to him he was life’s favourite bait!

Back to the question, of what to write,
The writer pondered a lot, but nothing seemed right!

His words were empty, a tale with no track,
The end was an irony, a meaningful conclusion it lacked!

He wrote of days long gone…
Of memories many, remembered by none…
Of friends he met, and foes he made,
Tattered glimpses of a past, that will soon fade !

Of long talks…over matters non-trivial…
Of excuses to meet for workings unreal..
Of a rose not given…of a sentence unsaid…
Of a call unconnected…of a letter unread…
And so the tale, went on and on,
Of random moments turning to memories to be retold later in some song!

Of love, or what he believed love was,
A random verse, to explain his loss,
Of random twists in tale, to set things wrong,
Indeed, his tale was turning too long !

He faced highs, he faced lows,
A murky life full of emotional blows
To give him support was his favourite quote,
Life’s Like That… he always wrote !!
